This August will see the Prince Frederick Duleep Singh Cup cricket trophy played in Thetford. The showpeice match in its second consecutive year will be played against a Thetford XI and the Young Lions of Nottingham...
Last year the Prince Duleep Singh Cup was played at Thetford's Shawdell Cricket Club, and although the weather was not too kind, but the match was played in high spirits with both teams not allowing the constant drizzle to hinder a finely contested game of 20-20 Cricket.
The game jointly arranged by Shadwell, Thetford Museum and Thetford Council was won convincingly by the visiting team from Nottingham, who had come down with a coach load of supporters.
After the Trophy Ceremony, the food and drinks were laid on at the pavillion and talks of a second match were cemented to make this a regular feature in the Thetford calander.
This years match will be played at Thetford Cricket Club on the 29th August 2016 Bank Holiday Monday, and the home side will be desperate to put the record staright with a win!
