Thetford marks Prince Frederick's 150th Birth Anniversary

The Thomas Paine Hotel and The Museum of Thetford Life hosted a anniversary Dinner and tour to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Prince Frederick Duleep Singh on the 20th January 2018...

The anniversary dinner was held at the historic Thomas Paine Hotel with a private pre dinner tour of the Duleep Singh collection at the Ancient House Museum conducted by the museum's curator Oliver Bone. Earlier in the day the museum was packed for more anniversary events and covered by ITV News.

The evening prgramme hosted by Gez Chetal was introduced by Oliver Bone followed by three rounds of a specially  designed quiz on the subject of The Prince by Historian Peter Bance. A talk by local historian Fraser Harrison with more rounds of quiz questions between the dinner courses was concluded with a raffle to rasie money for the new Duleep Singh Gallery at Thetford Museum. Host Gez Chetal gave a closing speech, thanking everyone including special guests Kate Millbank of Breckland Council, deputy Mayor of Thetford and John Ward Chairman of Norfolk Museum Services, whom he presented with a cheque for £146 raised on the night.
